Maison de Cuivre (The Copper House) is a limited time offering of our Reservoir Bourbon finished in French oak Merlot casks. Michael Shaps from Wineworks of charlottesville, Virginia, provided us beautiful Grand Cru Burgundy casks, newly emptied of their aging Merlot. Our distillers sat down with his head winemaker and paired our aged whiskies with that wine to identify a brilliant match. We filled the French casks with a small lot of hand-selected quarter casks containing our flagship bourbon (100% Corn). Then we watched and waited with high expectations. The bourbon changed almost immediately and continuously. Our team at Reservoir monitored these barrels daily until finally, we struck gold with an exceptional and unforgettable barrel finish. Nose of Caedar, caramel, brown sugar, and cornbread. Palate of Honey graham cracker, vanilla, salted pretzel, and black pepper. Spicy pepper finish moving into sweet grape and hay.
