Château-Cheval-Blanc Saint Emilion 1996
|Region||France, Bordeaux, St. Emilion|
A dense colour with bright purple glints. At first the nose is closed; however, on swirling, comlex aromas come through of blackcurrants and fruit macerated in brandy together with hints of oak and vanilla. On the palate, the attack is powerful with coated tannins which carry through to the finish. A great length full of full aromas. A wine of great freshness. It promises to age a long time.
A very fine '96, but what else would you expect from Cheval-Blanc? Medium- to full-bodied, with a good deep-ruby color, this has aromas of freshly crushed blackberry, fine tannins and a silky, fresh aftertaste. Best after 2001.
