Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon 1999
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
Offers soft spoken notes of dried lavender, wild blueberries, fresh black currants and kirsch plus hints of dried herbs, unsmoked cigars and spice cake. Medium to full-bodied.
A dazzling wine, sleek and sophisticated, with beautiful ripe fruit purity. It has rich currant, creme de cassis, light mocha and herb shadings and a silky-smooth texture that firms on the finish as the tannins make their presence more evident. Drink now through 2014. 4,321 cases made.
Opening aromas range from well-ripened blackberry fruit to leaner, herbal notes of peat, green olive and dried leaves. Vanilla, caramel and smoke are contributed by oak. Feels creamy and dense in the mouth, with solid tannins, and finishes long, with a trace of bitterness.
