Chateau du Retout Haut Médoc 2018
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Haut Medoc|
|Brand||Chateau du Retout|
Lively, with a juicy edge carrying the blackberry, black currant and bramble notes along and helping them to meld through the apple wood- and savory-tinged finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot
The wine comes from the heart of Haut-Médoc between Margaux and Saint-Julien. It is structured, with black fruits and layers of ripe tannins. The dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend gives the wine its taut, mineral texture as well as the ability to age. Cellar Selection
Open-knit, with a mix of cedar, plum and tobacco notes kept lively with fresh acidity. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now. 13,300 cases made, 3,250 cases imported
The 2018 Château du Retout has a fragrant, floral bouquet of vibrant cranberry and red currant fruit laced with wilted rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins. There is a bit of hardness, especially toward the briny finish, though hopefully it will mellow with bottle age.
